The Dojlidy Brewery and Tyskie Browary Książęce as occupational safety leaders in the regions of Podlasie and Silesia
Two of Kompania Piwowarska’s breweries were named the safest large companies in their respective regions by the National Labour Inspectorate. The Dojlidy Brewery in Białystok and Tyskie Browary Książęce in Tychy were awarded main prizes in the regions of Podlasie and Silesia at the 24th edition of the “Employer – Organiser of Safe Work” competition.
For the Dojlidy Brewery, the 1st place in Podlasie is yet another distinction in the competition. In 2013, the brewery won the main prize in the category for companies over 250 employees. This year, after a few years of a mandatory grace period, the brewery competed at the regional level and once again emerged victorious. It proves that the level of occupational health and safety in the brewery is really high, thanks to the systemic activities planned by both the employer and the employees. During the prize-giving ceremony, which took place on November 24 at the “ASTORIA” Centre in Białystok, the Dojlidy Brewery was represented by Krzysztof Węcławski, OHS Specialist at Kompania Piwowarska.
Some time earlier, a similar success was achieved by Kompania Piwowarska’s brewery in Tychy, which made its debut in the “Employer – Organiser of Safe Work” competition. On October 5, during the gala at the Malarnia Stage of the Silesian Theatre in Katowice, the organizers handed the award to Marek Ruchała, Supply Chain Operational Manager. The fact that Tyskie Browary Książęce triumphed in the category for Silesian companies over 250 employees on its first try definitely proves that 400 years of history and brewing tradition can go hand in hand with modern technologies, the highest standards and occupational safety.
Both submissions described all activities, programmes and investments aimed at improving safety, which have been implemented in the breweries and distribution centres over the last few years. Moreover, the Dojlidy Brewery used its presentation to describe in detail the “Global Safety Standards”, while Tyskie Browary Książęce explored the issues of the “Safe Logistic Programme”.
- Besides OHS investments in the breweries, we have been executing various information campaigns and programmes, e.g. Safe Logistics for the employees of our Supply Chain or our extensive Be More Observant programme. We manage to engage our employees by providing them with the tools, knowledge and opportunity to influence their own workplace – says Marcin Tomaszewski, OHS Manager at Kompania Piwowarska. – Occupational safety is a project without a beginning or an end. We are constantly trying to improve and all the awards confirm that we are going in the right direction.
It was the 24th edition of the “Employer – Organiser of Safe Work” competition, initiated by the National Labour Inspectorate. The goal of the competition is to promote and reward companies that implement solutions aimed at improvement of occupational health and safety. The participants are evaluated and awarded in three categories – depending on the number of employed people – first at a regional level, and then at a national one. The jury considers compliance with the provisions of labour law and OHS regulations, as well as systemic solutions related to OHS. The winners of the central stage receive statuettes with Ovid’s maxim Mecum Tutissimus Ibis (“With me you will be safer”) and take a place on the “Golden List of Employers”.
