    September 9 marks the launch of the seventh edition of the FASOFF social campaign stating that “sober  pregnancy is in fashion”. Organized by the “Dom w Łodzi” Foundation with long-standing support from  Kompania Piwowarska, the initiative aims to spread a clear message: drinking alcohol during pregnancy puts  a child’s health at risk.

    Even the smallest amount of alcohol during pregnancy poses a serious threat to the child’s health, leading to irreversible developmental disorders such as Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). In Poland alone, an estimated 9,000 children are born with FAS every year. Although the rule of abstaining from alcohol during pregnancy is widely known, awareness of the real consequences is still far too low. This is why the goal of the FASOFF campaign is to show that saying “no” to alcohol is the easiest way to protect your child’s future. 

    This year’s edition of the campaign is built around the metaphor of fashion. An extraordinary photo shoot was held at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, featuring pregnant women as the campaign’s  ambassadors. Among them were a special education teacher, a paediatric physiotherapist working daily with children affected by genetic disorders and FAS, a midwife preparing parents for conscious parenthood, a speech therapist specializing in neurological disorders, as well as one of Poland’s leading fencers – Olympian and European Games gold medallist. They were joined by Polish designers and artists, together creating a new trend: 100% alcohol-free pregnancy.

    We want to promote the trend of alcohol-free pregnancy together with mothers-to-be. Simply putting down the glass can spare a child from the tragedy of FAS – emphasizes Jolanta Bobińska, President of the “Dom w Łodzi” Foundation. Kompania Piwowarska has long been committed to educational initiatives promoting responsible drinking. – We are honoured to support the FASOFF campaign for the seventh year in a row. This is an important project for us because its message is crystal clear: alcohol and pregnancy never go together. We want that message to reach as many people as possible – says Małgorzata Walędzińska-Półtorak, Sustainable Development Program Manager at Kompania Piwowarska.

    The campaign also busts persistent myths, like “a little alcohol won’t hurt,” “the placenta protects the baby” or “FAS can be treated.” The truth is, even tiny amounts of alcohol can have irreversible consequences for a child’s health. 

    Kompania Piwowarska’s involvement in the FASOFF campaign is part of a broader strategy to promote responsible behaviours. This project is one example of how the brand actively raises public awareness and fosters a culture of responsible drinking.
