‘Don’t buy alcohol for minors. Let them listen to the music. Live a responsible life” is the leading claim placed on materials promoting responsible drinking and prepared by Kompania Piwowarska for attendees of this year’s edition of the Woodstock Respite Festival.
Paweł Kwiatkowski, Kompania Piwowarska’s spokesman, said:
“Our activities promoting responsible drinking include Woodstock Respite, the biggest rock festival in the country. This year we have devised a special stand where an application can be downloaded to test the blood alcohol content by means of a cellular phone.”
Alcohol: minors keep out
As always, KP trains individuals who sell beer at the festival and prepares educational materials highlighting the problem of minors drinking alcohol. These activities have brought about excellent results.
Regular Festival guests say:
“It is standard behaviour at Woodstock to approach the beer dispenser with your ID in your hand”.
In the course of a training conducted by experienced trainers, the sellers find out about the tricks applied by minors who try to buy alcohol. They also gain insight into many useful techniques of how to refuse selling alcohol to minors.
Paweł Kwiatkowski explained:
“We want the youth to enjoy the company, the good music and the fun; however, beer has been reserved for adults only. We don’t want youngsters to drink alcohol or to be assisted by adults to purchase beer. At the same time, we don’t want young people to be exposed to the negative effects of alcohol abuse or irresponsible drinking”,
Let’s hear it for the drivers
Kompania Piwowarska has included into its activities drivers visiting the Woodstock Respite who are educated on site. They will be handed stickers with the slogans: “Don’t drink and drive. Get back home safely. Test your alcohol blood content”. Moreover, the drivers will be offered an opportunity to download, free-of-charge, an application of “Put the Per Mille to the Test” software and use their cell phone as portable breathalysers. More about the programme to be found on www.sprawdzpromile.pl. However, there are more educating activities for the drivers: every “photographic” can of LECH beer from a limited series developed for the Woodstock Respite festival bears the slogan “I never drink and drive”. This is an extension of the former arrangements among representatives of Poland’s biggest brewers.
